Make no mistake about it. Health care reform is coming. But what’s the best way to fix our health care system, which is an inefficient, complicated mess of private actors, third-party payers, public subsidies, and innumerable state and federal regulations? Should we place our faith in the government or in the free market? ObamaCare supporters argue that the answer lies in more government—more subsidies, more regulations, a law mandating individuals buy health-insurance coverage and, of course, more taxes to pay for it all. The alternative is to base reforms on what works in the other five-sixths of the US economy, where choice and competition increase quality and drive down prices over time. Can a market-based health care system work? We can begin to answer this question by looking at Lasik, a medical procedure that’s not covered by health insurance. And has gotten better—and cheaper—over time. “How to Fix Health Care” proposes three simple reforms that will put us on a path to a health-care system that’s better, more affordable, and more accessible. And get this—these market-based reforms can be implemented without creating new government programs or raising taxes. Approximately 8.30 minutes. Produced by Paul Feine and Meredith Bragg. Sounds fair to me! It's no secret that something needs to be done with our health care system, but no one seems to be able to fix it. Prescription Drugs are way too expensive as well. I think it's possible that there's too many middle-men.

Get a group of friends together and start a letter writing campaign to your local
representative, senator, and governor. Ask them the very questions you have
posted here. Demand an answer and remind them that you are register voters.
The more letters that flood their desks the quicker our voices will be heard. Even
write a letter to the president and vice president. Send letters to the editor of your
local newspaper calling for other voters to do the same. We need to become
    squeaky wheels.

Because they seem to be unaware of just how much a problem health coverage is for most Americans. It is a shame they seem to lie about the plans Obama has to change things.

First of all, Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. And change the system so that it is cheaper, and also so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Holland and Switzerland where private companies are involved in providing insurance.

Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.

FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.

FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

I trust my doctor. Keep in mind, that the insurance companies are not paying doctors what they should. Its all about the bottom line….profit.

The idea needs tweaking, but it deserves further thought.
I agree a national program should be keep independent of other government programs and the funds committed solely to the program and not end up in the government coffers.

There is allot of information about COBRA health insurance here that I don’t think people know about. I have spent a fortune on COBRA medical insurance for my family in Florida. I wish I had seen this information before I wasted this money — I could have saved thousands of dollars. Thank you.
