How to Lose Weight Diet – 3 Easy Tips on a How to Lose Weight Diet

If you’re embarking on a how to lose weight diet, you are probably confused by all the conflicting information out there.  Low-carb, low-fat, it seems there are endless diets to chose from.  Whatever method you use, here are 3 easy tips for your how to lose weight diet.

1. Find Simple Pleasures

This one doesn’t have to do specifically with the foods you should be eating on your how to lsoe weight diet, but it is still important!  When you first change the way you eat, it is hard to avoid all those cravings for high-fat, high-sugar foods.

To alleviate these cravings, find simple things that you like to do or consume that won’t conflict with your diet.  They could be a cup of nice coffee or tea, a hot shower, anything that you enjoy that does not involve calories.

2. Follow the 90% Rule

If you’ve planned your how to lose weight diet properly, you should be eating about 6 meals per day, every day, spaced evenly.  Therefore, you have 42 meals per week.  The difference in results between 90% and 100% adherence to your plan is minimal, so allow yourself to “cheat” on just 3-4 of those meals and have some not-so-great food.  Just don’t go overboard!

3. Get Your Protein

Protein is the most important nutrient on a how to lose weight diet.  It helps you build lean muscle tissue, burn more body fat, and boost your metabolism.  Therefore, it should be the focus of each of your small, daily meals.  If you focus on a portion of lean protein combined with some whole grains and veggies, you can’t go wrong!

Help answer the question about weight diet

What's the best way to lose weight, best diet to follow?
I've been counting calories (about 1500 a day) and exercising via my treadmill at least 20 minutes, three times a week. This is slowly working, but some other people I know are losing quicker on the low carb diet or Weight Watchers. Should I increase my amount of exercise or maybe switch to a different diet?

@operationcwaI789789 How about getting off your ass and excercise?

  2. Heather C says:

Lots of veggies. I (usually) eat a salad everyday. Red peppers, green peppers, yellow peppers, orange peppers, cucumbers, carrots, little bit of cheese, romaine & whatever other veggies I feel like throwing in every so often. Light dressing, a vinagraitte generally has very little calories, but I usually have a light caeser dressing. Measure everything out. 1/2cup of veggies or fruits are a serving. When putting food on your plate, it should be 1/2 veggies, 1/4 meat, 1/4 starch. Remember, corn & potatoes are starch, though they may be veggies, they count for starch. Skinless chicken breast is the best meat, since it's very lean. For breakfast, I'll eat All-Bran cereal(the taste really grows on you, I absolutely love it.), or a yogurt smoothie. (1/2 cup 0% fat yogurt, which has 50 calories per 1/2 cup, 1/2 cup 1% milk, and 1 cup of mixed fruits. I usually buy frozen mixed fruits, which has raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.) Snack on fruits & veg throughout the day, or even throw in some nuts. They're high in protein, high in fat though, so limit them. Drink lots of water. Drink real fruit juices, not the artificial stuff. If the label says that it's just fruit juices, or fruit juices from concentrate & water, then they also count as a veggie serving. Take vitamins to make sure you do get enough in your diet. I take 1000mg of Vitamin C, 1000ui of Vitamin D, as well as One A Day's weight loss multi vitamin. Watch your calorie intake. Exercise.Your thighs are your biggest calorie burners. Walk more places and take the stairs more often. Hope I've helped.

  3. ?Should Be Sleeping? says:

So, instead of running, start walking for an hour or more a day, power walking's even better, but whatever.Supposedly you burn the same amount of fat walking as you do running. Do a lotta reps of sit-ups without stopping, i do sets of 50 with a 35lb weight on my chest. If you can get a punching bag, then hit the bag for 2 minutes straight hitting high and low, in fast pace, then drop and do 10 push-ups, then get up and repeat do that 5 times(Till you hit the bag for 10 minutes and do 50 push-ups). Jump rope really helps too…
And for motivation just look around at people. Look how many old people there are that can't do anything now practically cause of there size, yet the ones that stayed in shape are doing all kinds of stuff. Also, just think of all that you would be cut off from doing if you got bigger. Just going for a swim would become hell, going on a walk in the park would be like climbing everest, and that sh*ts hard! hahaha

@JxT1957 Studies have been done on meal frequency and it doesn’t change anything as long as total calories are the same.

  5. I really do love you says:

be sure to eat breakfast – our metabolism slows during the night and breakfast speeds it up.
drink lots of milk because women who drink milk burn more calories than women who dont.
get at least 8 hours of sleep and drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday.
if you get hungry 1-2 hours after youve eaten just eat fruit.
dont eat anything other than fruit after 6 o'clock.
and dont sleep right after your dinner.
    dont eat any cream.
instead of soda, drink fresh fruit juices.
dont eat your meals standing up or watching tv because then you wont realise that youre not hungry anymore and you'll eat more.

  6. Optimus says:

alright here it is quick and easy
eat and drink healthy with regular exercise.
losing weight/getting fit/toning up all take time and dedication.
so if you don't see results in 1 week, thats fine. you'll start to see results in 2-5 weeks. don't give up if it takes long.
losing weight to fast may make you gain back the weight in the form of fat. and also 'if' you want a cheat meal like sugary snack, have it once a week or once a fortnight.

  7. Athanakin says:

@lookingtotomorrow buy 1.5 litre-bottles of water. Drink at least one daily. Start any dynamic sport you like ( tennis, soccer, basketball etc) and combine it with working out in a gym. e.g. Also stop eating junk food, but eat any normal food you enjoy, just in smaller portions. Start ENJOYING those changes as your new way of life. Live it in the now or else its pointless.

Take it as your way of life, not just some means to an end. :)

no specific way to target those areas that i know of.. to lose fat try to eat smaller healthier meals every 2and a half hours rather than 3 main course meals a day and snacks in between. for fat loss.. i got a gym membership and used the elliptical machine for a half hour a few times a week and did some low intensity weight training. i got this acai berry detox stuff at gnc to to clean out my liver before i started the eating/exercise plan which i think helped my metabolism.. best of luck ask me if you need any more help

It’s one thing to live healthy, and another thing to look good. It’s more complicated than that. Even tho he’s right about SOME of the things, he still doesn’t know what the hell is he talking about. Go ask few questions in a bodybuilding forum about metabolism and muscle recovery – you are going to get ROFL’d, cause it’s something that you have to know as a child knows his name.

  13. Marissa C says:

If you eat too much meat you're brain won't work right. Just focus on eating lots of vegetables and some fruit. Small amounts of WHOLE grain and meat if you need it. Take a daily vitamin too. 1200 calories is a good start, but if you are really biking for an hour each day then I'd add in another 100 calories. Watch the refined sugar and caffeine, those will make your body not lose weight right.

  14. Suanay H says:

To lose weight you need to basically change your lifestyle. Reduce your energy intake by eating an energy-reduced, low-fat, high-fibre diet and increasing your energy output by doing regular exercise (running, jogging, skipping, cycling, swimming, join a gym) for 30 or more minutes a day. On this regimen you should lose 2 lbs per week. Unfortunately there's no easy way to lose weight, you'll have to commit and stick to it to see the results. Good luck!

  15. ducky says:

go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans.

  16. ProfDeth says:

The Paleo diet is the ONLY diet. My allergies have all but vanished, my health improved, my energy increased, it even brought my hypoglycemia under control. Oh, and during the first year of eating strictly Paleo, I lost 60 pounds. . . without exercising. No effort, my body shed the pounds and one year later I have kept them off.

  17. Rilamin67 says:

There are several methods I’m sure. Perhaps some supplements work, most don’t, clinics, trainers, exercise.. blah blah… As someone who has lost weight and kept it off… EAT RIGHT, DRINK WATER CONSTANTLY, GET REST, EXERCISE MORE!!! The inches will fall off, if not, then #1 your eating wrong. Sugars, fats, candy and ice Cream.. FAIL!!!
