How to Get a Health Insurance for Low Income Families

There is a misapprehension amongst a lot of people that because of their good state of health insurance cover is not critical. However, accidents and illnesses can happen at any time resulting in unplanned for losses. To cover these possibilities, getting health insurance coverage is well advised. While you may never need it, getting health insurance is a wise precaution.
The purpose of health insurance is to cover not only accidents, but to also assure continued health against infections, diseases or other health threats. Parents with congenital disorders will certainly need health insurance to cover the cost of treatments for the offspring should they be affected. For any person or family, being prepared for emergencies ahead of time is wise.
The cost of medication has risen considerably and continues to do so, making if hard for parents to insure their health and that of the children. For a good number of people in low-income group it may not be possible for them to get a health insurance plan.
There are now however several organizations that have set up programs to assist these families: companies, states through the Medicaid programs and so on to provide awareness of the need of health insurance for low-income family units.
Eligibility for families in the low income bracket differs considerably from one state to another. To determine eligibility, each low-income family is required to fill a form on their financial status for the state. There is a surprising rise in the number of families that qualify.
Basic needs like prescriptions, emergency, eye, and dental care are catered for under these health insurance options. Life becomes a lot easier when low-income families are enrolled in these programs
There are as well a lot of affordable health insurance plans that can be obtained over the Internet. The health insurance providers provide many options that families can afford and the convenience of the web is a plus. It is essential that the service provider that is selected to provide health insurance is recognized by government and duly licensed for your peace of mind.

Help answer the question about health insurance
How does health insurance portability work?I lost my job in December and lost health insurance. In August I will be able to get health insurance through a program at a state college I wil be attending. Is this too long of a lapse to cover pre-existing conditions? PA BTW.

It will mean that they will have to get insurance, but not only will it be cheaper, it will cover them no matter what.
I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3].
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4].
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [5].
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

First off, Be very wary of medical discount cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of “save up to 80%” be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. One state couldn’t find any doctors in that state that took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/west/2006/11/22/74554.htm for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards.
Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won’t give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they’re still taking the card (many don’t even know that they’re listed as a provider) and that they’re accepting new patients.
Second, you're probably not going to be able to get on an individual insurance policy. You are unemployed so the only thing available will be a short term medical. Short term medical policies do not cover pre-existing conditions. Even if you were employed most policies will not cover pre-existing conditions and many will not accept you based on the total of your conditions. You may want to visit a local independent agent. This person knows the plans available in your area and can find out if any plan will take you.
Third, you should still check on Medicaid. You don't have to have kids to be accepted for Medicaid. Depending upon what state you are in there are income and asset requirements. Google Medicaid and your state and you'll find their website. On the website will be information on how to qualify and how to apply. Don't let any hospital social worker tell you that you can't get on without trying for yourself.
Dumb-assssss
lol…
“Bob, welcome to the young turks!”
“Good, how are you?”
hehe, idk why that made me laugh xD
This Bob Cesca character is a known racist. He’s a real piece of garbage.
If healthcare reform doesn’t include a government-run public option, but instead forces all of us to give our money to the private healthcare insurance companies, I’m going to go apeshit. I’d rather face bankruptcy than be forced to give these greedy, selfish, bloodsuckers any of my money. I’d rather move to Nigeria than give Cigna ANYTHING. If healthcare reform = forcing us to give United Health, Cigna, Blue Cross, etc, etc more money, than fuck this country and fuck Obama.
It's a ploy to control your life even more.
The government likes to have a large amount of control on where your money flows, though where they believe the money should flow is about as accurate as trying to shoot a tin can with a nail gun 80 miles away.
This doesn't necessarily mean socialism, but it does mean that you're going to have to throw money at another greedy mouth.
Basically the government, car agencies, car insurance agencies are in cahoots, and will refuse it time and time again, but hazy circumstantial evidence heavily suggests that they follow trends together (such as the rising cost to buy a new car, combined with the laws set in that you must get insurance if you have a car, leading to another outlet for which your money to go to a giant conglomeration of companies.)
I hate to say it but it is what it is. You cant control it so either your husband needs a better job or you do. I don't mean to sound harsh but there is really nothing you can do.
Your husband can petition the courts and inquire about getting a lower costing health insurance.
You knew he had another life before you and he has to continue and maintain the lifestyle that the child had before the parents split up. Therefore if "dad" was paying that much in health insurance than he will probably have to continue to do so for the remainder of the child's minor life.
Accept it and things will be better
EDIT: Why arent you going for full custody?? Why the grand parent? Is your husband not capable of caring for him? Once you get full legal and physical custody, most of your financial problems regarding the child, will go away. Im not sure it will be cheaper but then you wont be able to complain that you and your husband are giving the money away to a mother that isnt using the money correctly, according to you. I know its hard being a step parent but you have to choose your battles and change the things you can and the things you cant, try not to worry about it.
Good luck
EDIT again lol: I feel for ya, I really do. Im a step parent as well and we will ALWAYS be the evil one. You have to learn to deal with things the best you can. Try not to get caught up in the drama cuz it will surely suck you in if you let it. For the time being, try your hardest to get the child with you, be as patient as you can with the child cuz they dont know what they do. A childs mind is so easily manipulated and its so hard to turn them around but it is possible with lots of time and love. Just stay strong with your husband and do your part to get the child with you. I hope all things work out. Life isnt fair but Im not gonna sit around and dwell on it. Im gonna take them lemons and make some great lemonade! lol Best wishes to you and your family. By the way, how old and what gender is the child?? You can always email me too if we need to go further, ycreamster2000@yahoo.com
Bob Cesca is a racist pile of garbage.
Tom Tancredo, you are ignorant. All of your proposals are funded in your racism and anti-immigrant sentiment. It is a shame to have you running an office. You may have a handful of followers that have managed to keep you in the House, but it will come to an? end, eventually. At least Senator McCain or President Bush are proposing educated Bills based in facts and not in feelings like you are doing
most people just go to the hospital even when they can't pay. there's no such thing as debtor's prison. some states have state insurance, like washington and california, everyone qualifies, sliding scale low premiums.
also, if you are under a certain income and have a medical problem you can qualify for medicaid. you don't have to be a welfare mom or a cripple to get medicaid, just poor. hopefull by early next year we will have federal medical plans for all. keep your fingers crossed that those greedy, racist republicans don't successfully do the evil insurance companies bidding and stop obama's long overdue health plan.
Forget that Klan hood Bob Cesca? All viewers should know this man is a proud racist.
Bob cesca is a bitch
I was actually impressed you know your politics and took the time to write a good statement/question! I can't agree more. I have never broken a bone, gone to the ER, etc. The only time I have used health insurance is for surgery when I was little and occasionally doctor visits for physicals and shots. I think is is EXTREMELY unfair to introduce nationalized health care! Politicians could care less about you since they are guaranteed a life time retirement regardless of their positions or beliefs! I strongly believe that making hard-working citizens pay for that lazy couch potatoes insurance is a sure-fire way to run the country into the ground. Why work more when you are just going to give it to the government? I live around poverty every day and the line to receive welfare I pass every morning on my way to school is unbelievable. These people do not want to work, so why should they GET anything? Standardizing health care is just one more freedom taken from us…
Keep America Free!
