Gaining Weight Diet – Eat Well And Tone Up

Every year millions of people make that same old resolution again and again, swearing this time will be different, but often time falling once again to the big temptation of hunger. Other people try desperately to put on pounds and fail just the same. In this article we will talk about a healthy way of eating which is simply called the gaining weight diet.

In both scenarios above, the solution to both problems could very well be solved with an increase in muscle mass. That’s right…muscle mass.

What is muscle mass

There are three types of muscle mass: smooth, skeletal and cardiac. Muscle is tissue in the body that has the ability to contract and also the ability to conduct electrical impulses. Muscle mass can be gained through weight lifting and exercise, which causes the cells to enlarge and create a mass of muscle tissue.

The tissue most commonly thought of as muscle is the skeletal muscle. The skeletal muscle cover your skeleton, giving your body its shape. This muscle is responsible of maintaining your posture. This muscle also hold your bones in the correct position and prevents your joints from dislocating.

These muscles are very important because they give you a better picture of yourself because weight lifting and exercise will play a key roll for your gaining weight diet.

Eating Healthy

The easiest way to gain weight in a healthy way is to eat smart. You will have to increase the amount of calories in your diet. We aren’t talking about junk food! Junk foods don’t offer much nutritionally, and are loaded with unhealthy saturated fats and sugar.

Eating seeds and nuts throughout the week will provide you with needed healthy fat and calories. Also, pinto, kidney, and black beans are all great source of protein and calories. For healthy salad dressings and mayonnaise, choose those made with canola or safflower oil.

When choosing meats, try to eat meats like baked chicken and fish. Baked potatoes, legumes, and 2 or 3 servings of vegetables will make this a complete and healthy meal for you.

For your beverages, you want to stay away from the high sugary soda pop which has no nutritional value. Instead, choose fruit juices or milk to add more calories. This will be much more healthier for you.

If you have a sweet tooth like most of us, try a dark chocolate bar with high-cocoa content loaded with epicatechin. Epicatechin is a particularly active member of a group of compounds called plant flavoniods. Flavoniods keep cholesterol from gathering in blood vessels, reduce the risk of blood clots, and slow down the immune responses that lead to clogged arteries.

Or, you can prepare some seedless grapes and place about 15 or so in sandwich bags and put them in the freezer. These grapes makes an excellent dessert for you and they taste very good too.

In conclusion, this gaining weight diet was limited to the evening meal. It shows you an easy plan to follow. Remember, gaining weight the right way should be a slow process the same as loosing weight. Gaining weight can also be good as long as you’re gaining muscles and not fat.

@JxT1957 Studies have been done on meal frequency and it doesn’t change anything as long as total calories are the same.

@operationcwaI789789 How about getting off your ass and excercise?

It is so easy to get caught up in the latest craze for 'loosing weight' and unfortunately in our culture we are indoctrinated from the earliest of ages that skinny is in and fat is ugly. Truth be told, the percentage of people in America that are clinically obese is nearing epedemic, yet the preoccupation wtih self and being the 'model-bodied' woman or man is robbing men and women alike of a normal healthy life. [ok, off the soap box now].

You are already active and that is good, but you might look at the big picture (bigger picture) if your attempts have not been successful. Keep in mind that weight and toning issues are not just one thing all the time. Some of your issues could be genetic, some could be environmental, and some could simply be lifestyle.

Not knowing in detail what you are already doing or not doing as it relates to my suggestions, I will at least suggest some very basic changes in your lifestyle that can be implemented over time if you have the time to do so. I don't suggest putting them all into practice at once unless you are a glutton for punishment to your present habits:

    1) If you drink carbonated beverages – STOP! Your body cannot metablolize it and it just stores itself in and around your cells.

    2) If you drink fruit juices and are not extremely active or have an incredibly high metabolizsm – STOP! Even 100% juice (a small fraction of those juices on the store shelves) is really loaded with sugars that turn to fat if not metabolized.

    3) Start cutting back on anything that is white or derived from anything white, i.e. breads, pastas, cereals, dairy, etc. All things in moderation, ESPECIALLY white stuff.

    4) Start increasing your intake of deep dark green veggies, either raw or steamed (never boiled).

    5) Start decreasing your intake of red meats and increasing your intake of white meats (other than pork), i.e. fish such as salmon or tuna, turkey and chicken breasts, etc.

    6) Stop eating fried foods and cut out all fast foods (the #1 cause of obesity next to inactivity).

    7) Find a walking partner, and walk everyday either at the beginning or the end – it does not matter – and try to get in at least 30 minutes of healthy conversation and walking. Keep track of your distance in the 30 minutes by having a circuit that you walk. I suggest 15 minutes in one direction, then turn around and walk back with the goal to make it back in the same amount time. You will find that you will push yourself if you 1) have someone to walk with, and 2) have a goal to beat your old distance record (if its only by a few blocks further over a few weeks). In addition to this simple exercise, strength training is important to overall health, especially for women. I suggest that you start with even the very basics like hack squats with milk containers filled with water, push ups, and sit ups (one set of each of as many as you can do comfortably). If you have access to weights, let your walking partner become your workout partner and alternate walk days with workout days. The main point here is to really enjoy your time of exercise and not make it out to be just that – "I have to exercise."

    8) If I could recommend any 'plan to you' other than my own regiment that I follow (and I am in fairly good shape from my own plan – 6'1", 205 pounds, 33" waist, 44' chest), I would recommend, "Fit for Life". It is a great program (pick up the book and the workbook at any barnes and noble). This is a really killer program if you are serious and there is a huge following for this program on a grassroots level.

    9) Cut down on TV and computer time, and find an 'activity' that puts you outside or somewhere where you can have physical movement over that of sitting. The rule in my house (as a single dad) is Balance! If you are sitting in front of a computer or tv while at home more than you are involved in other activities that burn calories, then you have your priorities misplaced and your health on the chopping block.

Hope this list helps you. The first 7 are a sure fire way to see long term results if you choose to add them GRADUALLY into your lifestyle.

Don't ever ever think fat "turns" to muscle, or vice versa. That's like saying a duck will turn into a dog.

Your weight gain is probably from 2 things: Lean muscle gains, and/or water retention.

My suggestion is don't worry about what the scale says, track your progress by the way you look in the mirror. That's how other people will notice anyway.

    Good Luck.

There are several methods I’m sure. Perhaps some supplements work, most don’t, clinics, trainers, exercise.. blah blah… As someone who has lost weight and kept it off… EAT RIGHT, DRINK WATER CONSTANTLY, GET REST, EXERCISE MORE!!! The inches will fall off, if not, then #1 your eating wrong. Sugars, fats, candy and ice Cream.. FAIL!!!

You had it right muscle weighs more than fat. If you are exercixing, don't stress about 5 lbs. Our weight fluctuates.

  9. im cool says:

    Ok,
First off, i am glad to hear you are seeing a nutritionist for help and im also glad to hear you are willing to listen to what she has to say. The number of calories you have been eating is no where near enough for anyone, let alone a teenager your age. 2000 is a more reasonable amount. You will absolutely in no way get fat or gain weight from eating 2000 calories. You will maintain. 1500 is still a little too low, you might end up losing. Aim for 2000, that's a good number. If you eat healthy and do exercise (in moderation, dont overdo it) you will look great for bikini season.

And sweetie, you are only 13 years old, have fun and enjoy your life, dont waste your time worrying about calories, ok?

    Take care

The Paleo diet is the ONLY diet. My allergies have all but vanished, my health improved, my energy increased, it even brought my hypoglycemia under control. Oh, and during the first year of eating strictly Paleo, I lost 60 pounds. . . without exercising. No effort, my body shed the pounds and one year later I have kept them off.

  11. †??????† says:

I have no idea what you're eating or if you're eating enough or healthy, but if you are exercising much more than before, you could just be gaining muscles and muscles weigh more than fat. so don't trust so much the number you see on the scale, but see if you have lost any sizes in your dresses…

Here are a few tips, follow these and you'll be fine:

WHEN to eat for losing weight…

    • Eat (at least) three times a day.
Because when you eat only once a day, your metabolism gets slower than it already is! That's the main reason. Sounds funny, but to lose weight… you must eat (the right things, of course)
    • Eat low-fat, high-fiber foods such as salads and vegetable pastas.
    • Your last meal should be before 18:00. Try.
    OK, one apple after 18:00
    • Don't starve
Starvation is not good for losing weight, nor your health.
Starvation is the worse thing you can do in a weight loss diet.
    • Try oatmeal instead of cornflakes for breakfast–eating oatmeal can help reduce cholesterol levels, and its high fiber content will keep you full longer.

WHAT to drink for losing weight…

    • Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day !
    • Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squized!
Don't drink Coca Cola, Pepsi, Spite etc. during the diet. Even lite or light versions.
    • Avoid those vending machines by carrying around your own healthful foods and leaving pocket change at home.

    exercise for losing weight…

    • If you want quicker results – exercise would be good.
    • Choose an exercise program that you enjoy, and don't shun the unconventional. For instance, did you know that regular vigorous dancing is exercise too?

    • Don't throw YOUR money on pills, drugs, patches and other stuff like that for losing weight.
The results (if any) will be only temporarily. Once they "cure" is over, and you're back to good old eating habits… back the weight (plus some extra pounds, as if you needed those)
Not speaking about side effects, which often appear during or soon after the "magic" cure is over.
The best way to lose weight is the NATURAL healthy way. Hey, I didn't say it's easy! But it's healthier (in fact THE healthiest way to lose weight), and certainly much, much cheaper. Buy books, read more, accumulate knowledge about losing weight in a natural way.

    Good luck!

Just sharing… I stumbled upon Leptin green coffee 800 in a forum, got interested and bought it last week. I was skeptical but today is 7th day and I could feel the difiference. It's 1 sachet a day + 100ml of hot water (basically just 3 sips) half hour before breakfast.

First day I still could eat alot and I was thinking about the effifacy. Second day, I forced myself to drink 2L of waters throughout the day. The 3rd day, I could feel my appetite decreases. I find food unappetizing and I only feel thirsty (really, really thirsty). Of course I still gotta eat but food intake is very minimal. What used to be a plate of yummy spaghetti, I could only eat half (the most). Sweet drinks taste not as good as before (slightly bitter taste)..

Other symptoms: flatulence (lots of it and super smelly), yawning (even when you dont feel sleepy or tired), extremely smelly stool, burping.

Overall, I feel my body is better in the sense that I have more energy, I dont really feel that tired anymore.

If you're interested, make sure you get the original product (there are fake products too). You can do a Google search on "Leptin" and see if this fits your need. Do your due diligence and then decide.

I read that Leptin helps with fat loss in the body but just dont go over the limit of 1 sachet per day, otherwise you may 'flood' your liver/kidney with fats (esp if you dont drink enough water to flush it out). So far I've only lost 4kg which is probably caused by water retention, I am hoping next week will be the 'real' weight off – my goal is to go down another 1kg-2kg. I think I'll get even better result if I do simple exercises (but I dont).

It’s one thing to live healthy, and another thing to look good. It’s more complicated than that. Even tho he’s right about SOME of the things, he still doesn’t know what the hell is he talking about. Go ask few questions in a bodybuilding forum about metabolism and muscle recovery – you are going to get ROFL’d, cause it’s something that you have to know as a child knows his name.

  14. ch0c0lateysweety says:

Yes I would say over all you are eating right, just switch over all that cardio to weight training more often. Most women I train on a regular basis have the same preconception than cardio is the way to go. Its not , weight training for 45 minutes for you whole body will produce much better results . Use low to med weights and high, high reps . My clients (females) use 5 and 8 lb dumbbells

Have a truly great day , everything is possible!

@lookingtotomorrow buy 1.5 litre-bottles of water. Drink at least one daily. Start any dynamic sport you like ( tennis, soccer, basketball etc) and combine it with working out in a gym. e.g. Also stop eating junk food, but eat any normal food you enjoy, just in smaller portions. Start ENJOYING those changes as your new way of life. Live it in the now or else its pointless.

Take it as your way of life, not just some means to an end. :)
