Don't worry about it. You are right- gaining weight fast, especially if your on the heavier side, leads to losing it fast also. Unless you make significant changes to your diet, I wouldn't say that you would drop more than 15 pounds over the course of 2 months. If you're looking to maintain your weight, take a step back and examine what you're eating. If you'd like to lose, consider some diet changes to speed up the process. Exercise is great, but changing your eating habits leads to more profound weight loss. Best of luck

If you continue the way you eat you will lose muscle along with the fat. The key to maintaining the muscle mass is to eat one gram of protein per pound of body weight, recommended for active people. This is just enough to maintain the muscle. Another thing is by increasing your protein intake, it will increase your metabolism, which will essentially help you lose the fat. And don't forgot about carbs, they are not that bad if eaten moderately, they too help in the muscle building process. Good Fats (poly and mono) are great as well, they help you feel full with-out all the bad side affects of sat fats. You seem to have everything else in-line up to this point.

First of all, I'm SO proud of you for looking up on this. I completed a 42-day fast a few years back and it was the SMARTEST thing I've ever done <3
I've been copying and pasting this to others who are curious about water fasting and I hope it helps you out <3 Best of luck!

--------

Let me take you about 3 years back to January 5th, 2007. This is the day that I found out that I had Acute Leukemia. I was 15 years old.

I've always been big into nutrition. Ever since I was about 8, I've felt that the human body is amazing and wanted to know everything it's capable of.

I remembered reading somewhere about cases of cancer patients unintentionally fasting because they were too weak to eat, and because of it, diminishing their trace of abnormal cancer cells. Patients had been put on intentional water fasts and almost all of them had been completely cured. The others saw a dramatic improvement but their cancer was too severe for the body to completely repair itself.

Anyways, almost immediately I started a fast. Water. Nothing else. No toothpaste, no nail bitings, NOTHING that could be ingested and disrupt the "detox" or repairing properties of a fast.

The first two days were full of tummy grumbles. I had IBS so I got nauseous from my stomach acids jumping around in there lol.

Before I go any further, my doctor highly disproved of water fasting for longer than 3 days. But I expected that. In my opinion, anyone working for the government is after money, not your safety or general well-being.

For the first 10 days, I did enemas each morning to help with the "detoxing" of my liver and shizzzz. I hate the insertion part, but everything following it is great lol.

After day 3, my tummy grumbles stopped completely.

Side Note: I drank like 200 oz. of water a day. It's NOT necessary. Again: Tons of water is NOT necessary. Get in your 6-8 cups and you're good. However, I do suggest a bottle of SmartWater every other day to replenish electrolytes (the biggest concern people have with long-term fasting.)

On days 10-18, I broke up in pimples. Cute, right? But it's a detox symptom. Your body rids itself of "toxins" through sweat, urine/fecal matter and through the skin in the form of acne.

Days 19-42 were easy. I got a colonic on day 34, 35, 38 and 39. That in itself caused a weight loss of 12 pounds.

On day 43, I broke my water fast with 4 oz. of organic diluted carrot juice.

If you're wondering about weight, I lost 56 pounds, putting me at 104 pounds, standing 5'5.

I have not gained any weight back because I've eating properly.

On to the medical reason for fasting... I told my Oncologist what I did and he was not happy. I told him that I'd felt more energized and alert and I was in virtually no pain as opposed to the constant aching I'd experienced before the fast.

He did my blood work. a few EKG's and your average "check-up" things like blood pressure at that visit. About a week later, I got a call asking me to come into his office because he wanted to talk to me.

Scared out of my mind that I'd been the "exception" to cures and fasting, and had actually FURTHERED my Leukemia, tried to remain calm.

I went into his office expecting to be granted 2 months to live. He greeted me and my father with a smile and---long story short---he explained that there are NO signs that I ever had Leukemia, asthma, type 2 diabetes OR chronic eczema. He compared me to a clean slate. I had virtually NO medical conditions.

On top of this MIRACLE, ever since those acne detox symptoms passed on day 20, I no longer suffer from severe acne. I don't even break out. EVER. I have not had ONE zit in 3 years.

I was clinically depressed and suicidal. I haven't felt even remotely close to that in forever!

Fasting saved my life and I hate that it gets a bad rep.

I hope I shined some light on how amazing our bodies are <3

God bless you

PS: If you're truly interested in water fasting, I suggest "Fasting and Eating for Health" by Joel Fuhrman. It's the equivalent to the Bible for me.
