Dieting and Weight Loss, a Safe Method

How many times have you or someone you know lost weight only to gain it back? The real key to dieting is therefore to eliminate the bottom of the food chain, sugar and simple carbohydrates, thus forcing our bodies to utilize the complex carbohydrates, protein, and fat that we consume. Our bodies then begin to operate as they were meant to operate.

To lose a pound of weight you have to burn 3,000 calories. When we fail to address the mental component of our weight struggles before starting a diet, we’re in fact skipping the most important part. Some believe being chronically overweight is a result of our identity. Most weight is related to something or someone that needs to be confronted and dealt with. Balance is key to any good plan.

Crash dieting is unhealthy. Bob Greene, Oprah Winfrey’s personal trainer says dieting is about changing your life, not only with how the body works, but also how the mind works. In his new NY Times bestselling book “The Best Life Diet” he emphasizes the need to understand and improve the emotional relationship with eating and food.

The reason for dieting is as important as the method used to lose the weight.

When we fail to address the mental component of our weight struggles before starting a diet, we’re in fact skipping the most important part. Being chronically overweight is a result of our identity. Most weight is related to something or someone that needs to be confronted and dealt with. Balance is key to any good plan.

Dieting is good for dropping the pounds, but dieting alone is unlikely to bring you the body of your dreams. You should also keep in mind that exercising and ramping up your fitness routine is a great way to renew your dedication to the process and your enthusiasm.

Maintaining a stable metabolism is very important for losing weight and eating frequent healthy meals produces consistent energy.

The secret to burning body fat to get to your ideal weight is that you must eat and exercise right or it simply won’t happen. Would a program that’s designed to help someone lose weight quickly work as efficiently to help someone lose weight at a slow, natural pace? You’ve guessed right. As with any weight loss you need to be a strict disciplinarian and strict to your goals.

The reason dieting is such hard work however, is what trips up the most dedicated efforts to lose weight. The number one reason dieting requires so much energy is because of the internal conflict that accompanies most weight loss attempts.

That’s what causes yo-yo dieting. I wouldn’t put too much stock in temporary weight reductions induced for food restrictions. So, low-carb dieting is just what it sounds like — you can eat protein and fat, but you must limit the amount of carbohydrates you eat.

But dieting is not without risks, especially in an age when so many fad diets clamor for attention. The desire to lose weight rapidly can lead to health problems that outweigh the benefits of dieting.

Instead of dieting, weight management is a better approach. Not only are you more likely to accomplish your weight loss goals you are more likely to maintain your eating habits.

The best way to approach dieting is to eat a balanced diet with vegetables, fruits, legumes, grains, lean meat and fish and if tolerated, low fat dairy but only in the amount needed to maintain one’s normal weight.

So, for a person who is 250 pounds but normally should be 150 pounds, the best approach is to eat a balanced diet for a 150-pound person. The discomfort of dieting is most often cited by failed dieters as the reason for discontinuing their diet.

Thus, it makes sense that curbing the appetite may be the best way to promote a successful weight loss regimen. The hardest part about dieting is the lost pounds that seem to magically reappear once the diet is over. One of the reasons people experience this dreaded rebound weight gain is because of lost muscle tissue.

10 weeks should be ample time for you to lose some weight, unless it is a drastic amount you are trying to lose. Just remember that as long as you burn off more calories than you consume, you should lose weight. Now i know that is an oversimplification, however, it is a good general rule to follow. Continue to exercise and run, continue to push yourself, remembering what your goals are: to lose weight. Don't try those stupid fad diets. Instead try eating 4-6 smaller meals a day. Don't so increases your metabolism, which in turn helps you burn more calories. Eat as little fat as you can. Every extra candy bar, hamburger, and ice cream cone hurts you from reaching your desired dress size. Remember that. Low carbs and high protein is fine. However, that does not mean eating no carbs and loading on proteins. Eating more protein than needed does not help, just a waste of money. Also, try eating a lot of foods that have a high value of index of satiety. This means a food that makes you more full for the same amount of calories. You can looks up these foods online. Examples are fruits like apples. Also try eating foods higher in fiber. The goal for you is to get rid of hunger with as little calories as possible. Hope this helps. Good luck =)

neither is good. for weight loss to happen with cigs you are going to have to get addicted to them to the point where you NEED the nicotine and youd rather have a smoke than a meal. This will slow metabolism. This doesnt mean you cant smoke. i smoke and im healthy. I lift weights and eat healthy. I smoke around 1.5 packs a month and it does reduce appetite but for me it's only for about an hour

    Hey
Don't be to impatient with losing weight when pregnant.
You should try and take it easy and reserve your energy. From what I've learned; trying to lose weight real fast, may hinder you.

Gaining weight from pregnancy is quite normal for any women. It can even take a 1/2 year after pregnancy for your body to return to normal. So, even if you are not breast-feeding, don't be in too much of a hurry to cut calories. looking after and being responsible for a new baby can also be very tiring.
It would be most helpful to not bother worrying about your weight for now. Just put more effort in eating the right foods and cutting out junk/harmful food.

And I do have something I highly recommend for you.
Its titled Strip-That-Fat. Be sure to go to http://www.rightchoicereviews.com/pregnancy_weight.html for more information.
This will be a helpful tool to help any women lose weight.

    Sandy,
You have all the time you need to lose 60 pounds by next summer.

    Here are your problems:

    1) Your calorie count is too low and you cannot keep it up. You want permanent weight loss for the rest of your life. You cannot maintain a 1000 calorie diet. Nobody eats like that and stays healthy.

When you start eating 1500 calories again, all the weight you lose will return and be doubled! Depriving yourself and starving your body is always detrimental.

    2) Losing 3-4 pounds is too much every week because you are not properly exercising and the muscle you are losing will only show after the fat melts off and your body will not be pretty.

    3) You are not exercising enough. 30 minute on the machine is ridiculous. You should be exercising for 1 full hour every day for cardio training.

Strength/resistance training is what burns fat, builds good muscle without bulk and keeps the body toned.

    Here's what you do:

    1) start walking every day for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
    2) exercise 5 days per week for at least 20 minutes. See link.
    3) eat 1200 to 1500 calories of nutritious, low fat food. Lots of veggies and fruit.
    4) drink 8 glasses of water a day to flush your system of the toxins from the fat loss and the exercise. 1 glass as soon as you wake in the morniing, 1 before meals and snacks.
    5) eat fruit or unsalted nuts (not both together!) when you want to snack.
    6) stop drinking all sodas, even diet. Too much chemical sugar. when you're out with friends, order schwepps to replace the coke.
    7) when you're feeling frustrated, write it down in a journal, don't keep it inside. If you get frustrated you will eat instead.
    8) find a buddy or join a forum where you can share your experience, get feedback and good advice.

The bottom line is EAT SMART. Drs Oz and Rozen should sort you out.

Not fasting, but restricting your diet in a specific way will rid you of cravings for bad foods and eating addictions. The wrong foods high in fat, salt, sugar and certain additives will have an addictive effect on your body and this can be broken. The liver cleansing diet will get rid of all those toxins, stop the addicitve tendencies and shed excess weight.

Food choices are important because certain foods clog the liver and reduce its fat burning afunction, while other foods cleanse it and increase fat burning function. The liver cleansing diet lasts for 8 weeks but the principles of the diet can be adhered to for life. This diet allows you to eat well but just has some restrictions.

It requires that you eliminate red meat, animal fats, dairy, all processed food and anything containing additives. Replace that with fresh fish/seafood (not fried), some lean chicken, lots of vegetables (raw is better), salads and fruit, wholemeal bread, pasta and rice. Drink lots of water and if you can make a fresh raw vegie juice each morning then the process will speed up.

I do this myself every year to shed excess kilos and usually lose around 1kg a week. It works if you don't cheat of course. Because I do this every year now my excess only ever amounts to 2-3kg per year which is easy to take off. Read the articles below that offer a better explanation, tips and an example diet plan. Best wishes.

The drug is actually very safe. It works only in your digestive track as thats where it begins blocking 1/4 of the fat that you eat. The fat that is blocked is removed in your stool as waste if you consume to much fat however (over 15 grams per meal) it makes it harder for your stool to absorb the excess fat flushed out of your system which is how some of the side effects could occur. If you watch what you eat, you'll avoid these.

Basically the formula for the drug works like this for every 5 lbs you lose on your own, alli will knock off an additional 2-3 lbs by blocking the fat, diet and exercise help increase your weight loss productivity.

You should drink plenty of water to help flush the excess fat out of your system and commit to a low calorie diet. I recommend at least 15-20 minutes a day of cardio to at least get back in the swing of exercise and help aide the weight loss.

If you want to read more or participate in the blog here is a good site. Also its pretty cheap to buy it there to.

how long have you been following this exercise routine? fats are not easily burned so you cannot see yet the effects of your exercising. i admire that you can actually do it 5 days a week. the usual pattern is 3 days a week and 2 hour workout each day. since you mentioned that you have lost a couple of weight, then you just have to continue.

lastly, acupuncture has nothing to do with trimming down. acupuncture is used to alleviate stress and pressure on body parts.

I have lost a lot of weight recently, and I can guarantee fasting is not the way to do it. When you stop eating, your metabolism grinds to a halt and holds onto all the energy (fat) it can. Just keep eating healthy foods. Cut your portions a little bit. You are already on a very low-calorie diet so don't go crazy or you'll end up malnourished. Try entering your stats on Sparkpeople.com to figure out how many calories you should be eating to reach your goal. It's free.
