For people who want an easy way to lose weight, diet foods and diet pills seem to be the most appealing solutions.

Diet Foods

It is now extremely common to go to the supermarket and find foods and drinks available in its regular form and its “diet” counterpart. Foods and drinks that are called “diet” undergo modifications, typically decreasing the amount of certain substances present in the original versions. Usually, high-calorie components are substituted with low-calorie replacements. For example, whole grain foods use fiber, which contains no calories, as a replacement for starch.

Diet foods are usual components of a weight loss regimen, and are patronized most commonly by individuals who want to be thinner. These diet foods and drinks usually contain words such as “light”, “lite”, “low”, “no”, “zero” and “free”. Each of these terms has a specific amount of substances allowed in the product. For example, “light” or “lite” foods contain 1/3 less calories or 1/2 less fat compared to the original, and 50% less sodium content.

There was a lot of controversy regarding the use of various terms to describe diet foods. In January of the year 1993, the FDA and the Food Safety and Inspection Service qualified the use of these terms.

Diet foods and drinks will only work when consumed in the right amount. It is crucial that the individual understands how to adjust the diet and compute the calorie content of the food being eaten. Consciously replacing regular food with diet food can help the individual achieve a slow but generally steady weight loss.

Diet Pills

When conservative measures, such as diet and exercise, don’t work, people usually turn to medications. Researches have estimated that over $6 billion is spent every year on diet pills. A study in 1992 revealed that almost 22,000 individuals use prescription weight loss pills. Of this number, 10% used multiple drugs in order to induce weight loss.

There are many diet pills available in the market, a number of which require prescriptions from a licensed physician. Diet pills that can be bought over-the-counter are usually herbal supplements containing substances that are not regulated.

Diet pills provide quick and easy weight loss, with few side effects. Unlike diet foods, most diet pills should only be used for a short period of time. Longer administration can result in increased tolerance to the drug and serious side effects.

Diet pills are recommended for people who are obese and require rapid weight loss. Remember that using diet pills is not a substitute for a reasonable diet and exercise regimen. Diet pills should be used as an adjunct, helping the individual’s weight loss plan to kick off.

Combination Therapy

The combination of dietary therapy and drug therapy has been theorized to improve weight loss further. This is because the intake of weight loss pills actually promotes adherence of the individual to the diet regimen. Both diet foods and diet pills will work best when combined with healthy exercise and changes in habits and behavior.

drink lots of water, cut down on carbs (so instead of a sandwich get a wrap or a salad) get some brand (like raisin brand, brand muffins), put pepper in your food, choose fruit and vegetables over sweets and chips, NO SODA or COLA, get lots of exercise like walking, swiming, biking, and other cardio, and do not starve yourself the body goes into survival mode and holds on to the fat when you don't eat enough so get plenty of sleep and and eat 3 meals a day, and side tip (it's better to eat breakfast as soon as you get up, and don't eat anything before bed.

Great vid but one big error. You have to use salt otherwise you will die. Don’t use normal table-salt use mineral-salt or other healthy salts. Check other raw-food vids and see for yourself.

eat a well balanced diet. do not cut anything out as you need carbs and fat to function. do cardio and weight training and drink at least 8 cups of water daily. burn more calories then you are taking in.

@marjarose The Vitamix is really expensive, I think they are $700. I saw a live demo at Costco with a blender (forgot maker) that cost just under $400. That blender made nut milk (almond) right before my eyes. If it’s strong enough to do that, it is just as good as Vitamix. IMHO

i’d love to look like demi moore at 40, but i have no idea how fruit and salad is going to sustain me for the day.

clenbuterol. Is illegal in US but you can get it online or if you have family in latin america there is like $7.00 and legal

Cook with low-glycemic ingredients. As a housewife, you control what your family eats. Read the labels and make healthy choices. Whole wheat over white bread. Try my power breakfast..

I take a small saucepan (2 cups?) and put about an inch of water in it. Sprinkle in a couple of ounces of Quaker quick pearled barley (like you’d use in beef barley stew). The barley takes about 5 minutes to boil. When it begins to boil, add a generous amount of ground cinnamon. The barley will need to boil for another 5 minutes to be tender. While it’s boiling, slice some dehydrated apple, crush a few walnuts…….with about 3 minutes left on the barley add the slow-cook type oatmeal (not the one-minute stuff, it’s too “processed”). With the oatmeal added, lower burner to simmer, cook and stir for a couple more minutes adding the apples and walnuts. The barley is an insulin buffer and will ward off insulin spikes during the day. (Tip: Omit the barley on days you lift because you’ll want a post workout insulin spike). Barley also lowers bad cholesterol…even better than the highly touted oatmeal. The cinnamon is a natural thermogenic (fat-burner). And the walnuts have mono-unsaturated fats to help destroy belly fat.

I want to change my eating habits to lose weight and for health reasons. I thought about juicing but knew I’d miss the “crunch” from not eating food. This gave me ideas. However eating healthy is expensive and it seems that it would take alot for juicing as well has eating healthy. Do you have any suggestions on keeping the cost down?

Here is what I would do. Use an almost crash diet without feeling sick. Eat 3-4 times a day with only the right amount of servings of calories. Eat breakfast (cereal with whole grains, low fat milk, and fruit) ,lunch (turkey sandwich no mayo ,water, and even low fat chips) ,snack ( anything to get some fruit in like a low fat smoothie) ,and dinner ( meat , water , veggies, and a little potatoes). I lost almost 5 pounds in about 3days and with a little extersize you could lose 10 pouns in about 4 days. Hope it helps. P.S. Never go on the celbrity diet you will just get sick.

I've never tried the pills, and I'd advise you not to waste your money. These diet companies play on peoples desperation and ignorance and often make ridiculous claims, considering the pills are sold over the counter.

Congratulations on the weight loss, you're doing great. Don't give up or let those last 15 lbs get to you. Just keep doing what you're doing. {erhaps you might want to change your exercise routine or incorporate more cardio (depending on how much you already do a day).

how can this woman tell me that I will feel better eating fruit for breakfast than when eating a breakfast high in saturated fat? She knows nothing of my genetic background or metabolic type. I appreciate the advice but you can’t seriously believe that fruit for breakfast is good for every human being regardless of their internal body type.

  15. toy.toy says:

Diet pills are a waste of money, don't work, and some are actually bad for you. No pill, potion or supplement will help.

All you need to lose weight is a good healthy diet – lots of fruit and veg, and exercise – it takes time and motivation :)

whats your definition of cooked foods?

  17. GrenadeChick99 says:

@basicsweetness4ever I know…sooo expensive to shop in the produce section nowaday! I now go to the Farmer’s markets. Save a lot of money that way.
