I have not read the book recently, but to the best of my memory, the induction phase includes foods that do not have any carbohydrates. Basically, you can have meat, fish, poultry, eggs, butter, mayonnaise and that is about it.

This is a relatively unsafe diet and you really should be very careful with it. Be sure to take a good vitamin.

You may also be able to search for it through one of the search engines like yahoo, google, or even ask.com.

    Good luck

My stepmother told me that she wraps whatever other items
inside of sandwich meat. You could put whatever tastes good to you and is low or no carb such as celery or tomatoes or chese.

Great vid but one big error. You have to use salt otherwise you will die. Don’t use normal table-salt use mineral-salt or other healthy salts. Check other raw-food vids and see for yourself.

That was very soothing. Thank you so much! : )

I want to change my eating habits to lose weight and for health reasons. I thought about juicing but knew I’d miss the “crunch” from not eating food. This gave me ideas. However eating healthy is expensive and it seems that it would take alot for juicing as well has eating healthy. Do you have any suggestions on keeping the cost down?

    Salad.

    Pepperonis

    Pork rinds.

I like the feta-stuffed jalapenos from Costco.

    Olives

    Cheese (small amounts)

Nuts (in moderation, once you've moved up the OWL ladder a bit.)

@marjarose The Vitamix is really expensive, I think they are $700. I saw a live demo at Costco with a blender (forgot maker) that cost just under $400. That blender made nut milk (almond) right before my eyes. If it’s strong enough to do that, it is just as good as Vitamix. IMHO

Don't worry yourself over foods that you can, and cannot eat while doing Atkins.

You have your computer at hand. If you look on there you will find thousands of low carb foods.

I assume that you are still on the induction side of Atkins where food choice can be a problem.

Anyhow look up the foods as I said and you will find foods that you can eat and snack on.. Just remember to stick to your carb limit.

Its a great diet, so stick to it. If you fail one day, then make up for it the next…

Hope it all goes well for you.

whats your definition of cooked foods?

  11. Yippidyyappidy says:

Neither, ideally a human needs protein and carbs (amongst many more things) and although you can survive and lose weight on these programmes, they simply are not sustainable with out unpleasant side effects. You are better served eating a well balanced diet.

  12. NoWomanNoCry says:

Do the Atkins, you will lose the weight but when you get to the weight you want, really read the last sections of the atkins diet book about how to taper into real eating again. White bread as the first thing added in will send you right back up. Stick to veggies and the right fruits for your carbs. Also try salmon for one of your meat servings. Weigh every day in the morning at the same time and if you weigh more than the previous morning you ate too much that day and need to cutback.

  13. CooperLee says:

how can this woman tell me that I will feel better eating fruit for breakfast than when eating a breakfast high in saturated fat? She knows nothing of my genetic background or metabolic type. I appreciate the advice but you can’t seriously believe that fruit for breakfast is good for every human being regardless of their internal body type.

@basicsweetness4ever I know…sooo expensive to shop in the produce section nowaday! I now go to the Farmer’s markets. Save a lot of money that way.

Obviously people don't understand this diet very well…

It's a high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet. Each food has three numbers attached to it: protein, fat and carbs. In Atkins you count the carbs and try to to exceed a certain amount. You start pretty severe – almost zero, or as close as you can come. The idea is to push your body into a state where it is using stored fat for energy and not creating any new.

You ease up a bit after the first week, but still keep your carb intake extremely low. This can be hard to do at first, but after a week or two, your body stops craving carbs and it actually becomes a lot easier.

You eat meat (almost all kinds), cheese, eggs and fish. You do not eat bread, potatoes, sweets of any kind, most fruits and many vegetables. It's important to take a multi-vitamin on the Atkins diet, because you are not going to be getting many of these nutrients any other way.

It's extreme, but it works. It is almost impossible, though, to sustain it for more than a few months – maybe a year if you're really disciplined. And like most diets, once you go off it, the weight will pile back on almost over night.

    Hope this helps.

i’d love to look like demi moore at 40, but i have no idea how fruit and salad is going to sustain me for the day.

The Super food diet with out a doubt. I read the book and followed the key foods I enjoyed and eat them in small portion. I also included an all natural supplement with my diet, aloe and green tea work for me.
